LEO & LUNA

ADOPTED! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR HAPPILY EVER AFTER!

LEO & LUNA (ADOPTED! )

GREEN CHEEK CONURE PAIR

This is Leo & Luna.

This is what we know:

Leo is the standard green cheek, while Luna is the Cinnamon mutation. At some point in their history, Leo had a broken leg, and Luna was attacked by a dog. Both received medical treatment and have been completely recovered. They’ve been on a fresh fruit and pellet diet their whole lives, so the conversion to our food was immediately successful.

They have been allowed to roam the floor now and again (which we NEVER recommend for a multitude of reasons) and can go after feet. That’s easily solvable by not allowing them to wander the floor.

Leo is the sweet heart of the two. He wants to be with everyone and anyone and do whatever you’re doing, with scratches and loves and cuddles, all the day long. Luna wants all of those things, just only with her bonded human and Leo, rather than everyone.

They are a sweet little pair, young enough to have a long life with, but past sexual maturity, so they are who they are, and you won’t have to train through that.

Age: Leo 6, Luna 5

Sex: Assumed male and female, no DNA, no eggs.

Prefers: Either or. Leo likes everyone, Luna may prefer men.

Other Bird Aggressive? No, but we wouldn’t let them hang with other birds since they are bonded.

Cage Aggressive? No, but does take a little time to warm up to you and trust to step up from the cage.

Adoption Fee: $800

Cage Available: Affordable used cages available to purchase starting at $100.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Will not split them for any reason, and you’ll need to agree not to breed or split them in your contract.

***Information that is universal to every bird:

1) Birds are typically not family animals. They usually choose a favorite and at best you can expect them to tolerate everyone else.

2) Birds are not great with kids, dogs, other birds, and are not cuddly with everyone, nor can they really be trained to be. Birds are flock animals, who are social creatures that need to be in a communal area where they can see the rest of the family, or you may eperience serious vocalization and behavior problems. We’ve never met a bird who is great with kids, but we have met kids who are respectful of birds.

3) Birds bite. But, you shouldn’t “take the bite”. If you’re getting bit, you haven’t earned the trust of the bird, and are pushing the bird past his/her limits. You must figure out what the bird needs, and make what you’re asking of the bird more attractive than what they are already doing.

4) Birds are not “dominance” based creatures. Your only option for birds is to earn their trust. If they are, say…on top of a cage and don’t want to come down, that is where they feel safest, not a dominance thing. They are not trying to exert dominance, they just don’t want to come down. Your job as a parrot owner is to figure out what you can do to help them trust you, and whatever you are asking to be more attractive than what they are already doing.

5) NEVER send money over the internet for adoption with any individual or organization for the adoption of an animal you have not met in person. That is almost always a scam.
